WiFi FTP Server
A FTP server can help you move files between devices over your WiFi network. It’s annoying to transfer files between your Android and computer. You can use the cable to connect your computer and Android phone. Then, you have to change the security settings of your phone. The cable will eventually disconnect and you’ll have to start the setup all over.
You can avoid all the hassle by setting up an FTP server instead on your Android device. It sounds complicated, but the process is actually very simple. With an FTP server, computers (Windows, macOS or Linux) connected to your WiFi network can easily access files stored on your Android phone.
The next time you want to move files from one location to another, all you have to do is drag and drop the documents. It’s especially useful if the cloud is not your thing.
How to install FTP on Android
You’ll first need to install the FTP Server on your smartphone. You can do it for free by installing the Wireless FTP Server on Google Play. It’s free, but there are ads. (You can pay $1 to remove them if you don’t want to see any). You can start a FTP server quickly by tapping on the Launch button. If you don’t know what you are doing, then I recommend you go to Setting. We know it looks a bit intimidating, but it’s incredibly simple.
Set up your user ID and password and disable anonymous access. It will only allow people to access your files with the credentials you have set up. Check Use FTP. It adds an additional layer of protection and makes sure that your files are all encrypted. This means even if you have someone break into your network they will not be able see the files that you transfer. It’s not important if it is only used at home. But it can be useful if there are guests or if one of your neighbours cracks the credentials.
After that, return to the main app menu and select Launch.
You will see all the necessary information on this screen to login from another device. The local server address can be thought of like a URL for a website. This is what you’ll use to direct your computer to the files. Userrid, and Password will be the credentials that you selected earlier.
You’ll use them when transferring files to another device. anonymous access enables users to connect directly to your device without requiring credentials. It is easier to enable, but it’s also less secure. So do this at your own peril. root folder, on the other hand, is a folder that you can access from any device in your network. This is usually set up to share the whole internal memory, but it can be changed so you only want to share a specific folder.
You can access FTP servers from any computer.
You can now access files from your phone on other devices that are also connected. You will also need an FTP Client, which is a file-browser.
We recommend cyberduck for beginners. It is available on macOS and Windows. Open source software is known for being secure and easy to use. Cyberduck can be downloaded, installed, opened, then click on Connect in the menu. Enter the data from your mobile phone into the newly-emerging window.

Please only type up to colon in Server URL for Server. Instead, type the numbers in the Port field. The screenshot is a good reference. Enter your user name and password, then click Connect. Now you can access your phone data from your PC.
Now you can drag and drop files to and from your device, and delete any documents that you wish. Open the FTP app and select Stop. It will prevent your battery from being drained.
