National Consumer Helpline
National Consumer Helpline, a Government of India project, is being implemented by Centre for Consumer Studies at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi. The project recognizes that consumers need a Helpline for dealing with the multitude of issues they face in their daily interactions with businesses and service providers.
National Consumer Helpline offers advice, guidance and information to empower consumers. It also encourages businesses to adapt their policies and management systems in order to respond to consumer complaints and concerns by adopting international standards. National Consumer Helpline is available to consumers from all over the country. They can contact them at 1800-11-4000 for information, guidance or advice on their complaints and queries.
The National Consumer Helpline provides advice to consumers about how to deal with issues related defective products, poor services, and unfair business practices. National Consumer Helpline assists consumers: By guiding consumers to find solutions to issues related to Products and Services. Information about Companies and Regulatory Authorities. Consumers can file complaints with service providers who are in default. Empowering the consumer to utilize available mechanisms for redressing grievances. Creating awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities.

What local languages can you speak to get help and information?
State Consumer Helplines State Consumer Helplines are established by the various state governments to advise and guide consumers in their regional language, and to meet the needs of the local population and especially rural people. State Consumer Helplines are staffed by advisors who provide information on pre-purchase, after-purchase, and guidance, as well as “next step advice” to resolve or redress any issues in Hindi, English, and Local Language.

State Consumer Helpline Knowledge Resource Management Portal has been set up by the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Centre for Consumer Studies at the Indian Institute of Public Administration in New Delhi. This portal links State Consumer Helplines in various states on a single IT platform, and it monitors the activities of these State Helplines. States can access the Portal’s website to provide information and counselling for consumers. At present, states like Bihar, Haryana and Gujarat are linked with the Portal. The Portal is linked to Bihar, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, and Tamil Nadu.
